Myomegalin variant 8

The present invention relates to a novel myomegalin isoform, myomegalin variant 8, that regulates microtubule organization at the Golgi apparatus and protein trafficking. The following methods are provided: (1) detecting, isolating, and identifying myomegalin variant 8 with the novel polynucleotide and polypeptide sequences, (2) isolating and identifying protein complexes comprising myomegalin variant 8, (3) interfering with protein trafficking and glycosylation, and (4) inhibiting cell proliferation. These methods are useful for disease diagnosis and prognosis, and for screening assays to identify chemical or biochemical agents effective in treating and/or preventing diseases associated with myomegalin variant 8.

Diagnostic biomarker, therapeutic target and detection tool of diagnostic biomarker

The invention proposes a diagnostic biomarker, therapeutic target, and detection tool; the diagnostic biomarker is used to indicate centrosome separation, based on the phosphorylation of the GAS2L1 protein at Ser352. The amino acid sequence of GAS2L1 is shown in SEQ ID NO:1. The diagnostic biomarker, therapeutic target, and detection tool of the present invention have a novel concept and strong practicality.
