1. What is the relationship between HKUST(GZ) and HKUST?
Under the “Unified HKUST, Complementary Campuses” framework,HKUST and HKUST(GZ) will forge together “HKUST 2.0”. HKUST and HKUST(GZ) will maintain consistency in the academic standard, faculty recruitment, and program quality. The cross-campus collaboration allows for greater synergy by sharing resources and complementing each other’s strengths.

2. What is the cultivation mode of HKUST(GZ)?
HKUST and HKUST(GZ) jointly constitute HKUST 2.0. For leaping across boundaries of traditional academic structure and organizations featured by rigid disciplinary divisions, HKUST(GZ) has built a new academic structure featuring Hub and Thrust with the purposes of diverse growth of interdisciplinary education and knowledge transfer, as well as the cultivation of future-oriented talents through a variety of emerging programs.
HKUST(GZ) adopts trailblazing teaching ideas that center on students. During their studies, students are free to choose necessary course modules consistent with their research questions and develop their just-in-time learning abilities, thus realizing individualized education. Meanwhile, the university cultivates future-oriented and innovative talents through a run-through cultivation mode featured by Bachelor-MPhil track, Bachelor-MPhil-PhD track, and Bachelor-PhD track. Undergraduate students are recruited without admission into a specific program; they need to declare their program of study at the end of the second year.

3. How about the University's faculty resources?
Regarding the University's faculty resources, we are proud to have a team of senior professors from HKUST, alongside a diverse range of top academic talents recruited worldwide using the same rigorous academic standards and mechanisms as HKUST. By the end of 2023, we anticipate that our faculty team will grow to more than 300 members.

4. Where is the campus located?
To foster genuine and effective collaboration between HKUST and HKUST(GZ), the 1.1-sq-km HKUST(GZ) campus is conveniently located in Nansha, south of Guangzhou, adjacent to the Qingsheng station on the high-speed Guangzhou- Shenzhen- Hong Kong Express Rail Link. It only takes less than an hour to get to West Kowloon Station in Hong Kong. Furthermore, the region is home to numerous world-class technology companies such as Huawei, Tencent, and BYD, which attract a wealth of cutting-edge scientific and technological talents. Positioned within the Greater Bay Area, HKUST(GZ) is ideally situated to engage with the entire world.

5. What degree certificates will be conferred?
Upon graduation, students will receive a bachelor’s degree certificate conferred by HKUST, as well as a bachelor’s degree certificate and a graduation certificate awarded by HKUST(GZ). These credentials will equip graduates for a wide range of opportunities both in China and across the globe.

6. Is there any chance to work in Hong Kong SAR after graduating from HKUST(GZ)?
Graduates of HKUST(GZ) are eligible to apply for work in the Hong Kong SAR under the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG). More details about IANG can be reached in the official website of the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

7. Can I pursue postgraduate studies after obtaining the undergraduate degree?
Upon completing their junior year, students who have received GPA score of 3 or more are eligible to apply for postgraduate studies in HKUST(GZ). Additionally, students with bachelor’s degree certificate are free to pursue further studies at other prestigious universities worldwide. Exceptional undergraduates may even have the opportunity to continue their PhD studies directly, provided they receive the approval of their supervisors and meet the necessary requirements.

1. Who can apply for HKUST(GZ)?
For 2023 entry, Mainland Chinese students from Guangdong, Shandong, Sichuan, and Henan province can apply for HKUST(GZ) in the advance batch of college application after Gaokao. Additionally, students from Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan region, and international students are also eligible to apply for HKUST(GZ).

2. How can I apply for HKUST(GZ)?
According to students’ different learning backgrounds, there are four different ways to apply for HKUST(GZ).
- Students of Mainland China are required to participate in GaoKao, and submit their application in the advance batch.
- Overseas Chinese students and students from Hong Kong and Macau can participate in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), and apply in the phase of college application.
- Students from Taiwan region have the option to participate in JEE, or apply for HKUST(GZ) with their GSAT grades via the prescribed registration website.
- Students with international qualifications should submit their applications directly via the HKUST(GZ) Online Application System.

3. When does the academic year begin?
All students shall begin their studies in the fall semester in September.

1. What are the programs offered by HKUST(GZ) Systems Hub?
For 2023 entry, there is one undergraduate program offered by Systems Hub, which is Smart Manufacturing. Students are not required to declare their program until the end of their second academic year. Systems Hub will launch other undergraduate programs for future students.

2. Do you offer any part-time study programs?
No. We do not offer any part-time undergraduate programs.

3. What is the meaning of "University Common Core Courses"
"University Common Core Courses" refers to a set of courses that are designed to provide a well-rounded education for undergraduate students. These courses typically cover topics such as communication, critical thinking, and student well-being, as well as subjects outside of a student's major program. The University Common Core also includes experiential learning, which allows students to apply their learning in an interdisciplinary context. The HKUST(GZ) Common Core framework consists of 30 credits, which is consistent with the standards of HKUST.

1. What does it cost to study at HKUST(GZ)?
For 2023 entry, the tuition fees are as follows:
For students admitted to the Bachelor-PhD track via GaoKao, the tuition fee is CNY 50,000 per academic year.
For other undergraduate students, the tuition fee is CNY 100,000 per academic year.

2. what is the cost of living at HKUST(GZ)?
The cost of living at HKUST(GZ) is relatively affordable. The on-campus accommodation fee ranges from CNY 2,000 to 2,500 per year, excluding additional charges for meals, air-conditioning, and laundry. It's important to note that these fees are subject to change.

3. Does HKUST(GZ) provide scholarships and financial aid?

For international students, HKUST(GZ) offers a variety of scholarships, including Admission Scholarship, which is awarded to top students from all backgrounds based on their academic merit and non-academic achievements. All applicants will be automatically considered for Admission Scholarship without extra application. Awarded details will be announced in the admission letter. Additionally, international students of HKUST(GZ) are eligible to apply for Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship every year.
About College and Campus Life

1. What is college system?
The college system is an important aspect of undergraduate education at HKUST(GZ). Under this system, students are assigned to one of several colleges, each of which serves the purpose of cultivating and preparing students for mature life. Colleges provide students with the opportunity to meet academics from around the world and from a broad range of subjects. Within each college, a tutor system is implemented, which provides students with academic and personal support throughout their undergraduate studies. In essence, each college is a community for students to live, study, and conduct academic events, and serves as a home for them both physically and mentally.

2. How are undergraduates assigned to colleges and how to allocate dormitories?
Each college has a maximum capacity of 500 students. The first cohort undergraduate students will be allocated to a single college for their studies and accommodation. However, due to the ongoing construction of the campus, the college building will not be completed until the second phase. Therefore, undergraduate students will temporarily live in postgraduate dormitories, which will have multiple single rooms, shared living rooms and kitchens. The allocation of dormitories will be handled by the university, and students will be provided with more information on the process closer to the start of the academic year.
